Katina Halkas

Katina holds a Masters degree in Guidance and Counselling from James Cook University, Singapore for which she was awarded the academic medal of achievement.

She has further training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as well as Career Development and Career Transition Coaching. She is currently training in Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy and is working towards expanding her knowledge and expertise in this area.

Katina is a Provisional Member of the Singapore Association of Counsellors as well as an International Member of the Australian Counselling Association.  She is from South Africa, and has many years experience as an expat having lived in the US for 6 years and Singapore for the past 11 years.

Katina completed her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and worked in Executive Search for a number of years before leaving South Africa to move to Washington DC with her husband.  She had two children during this time and moved to Singapore when they were 2 and 4 years old.  After taking a few years to settle in, she decided to fulfil a long-time aspiration of furthering her education in psychology and counselling.

She has experience working with young children in a school setting and as a volunteer at a drug addictions centre for ex-offenders.  She has now immersed herself in the field of relationship counselling and in particular the challenges faced by expatriate families living in Singapore.

Katina’s clinical hours are Monday 2pm-8.30pm, Wednesday 2pm-8.30pm, Friday 2pm-6pm, by appointment only.
